Adoptive Family Correspondence with Birth & Foster Families in International Adoption

It is not unusual for adoptive parents to desire post placement correspondence with their child’s birth or foster families especially when there has been in-country contact between families. Sometimes the wish to correspond is a desire to reassure birth and foster families that the child they have said goodbye to is safe and loved. Motivation to stay in touch may also come from a longing to keep ties on behalf of the child who may want this contact in the future or to allow access to more information about the child’s background and early life.
