This course will explore how the principles and practices of meditation can improve relationships in and out of psychotherapy.
Attendees will be able to describe how insights from Buddhist psychology can illuminate underlying processes of psychotherapy and learn to use meditative skills to deepen and sustain interpersonal connections. Participants will be able to describe changes in the brain common to both meditative and interpersonal experience, define concepts such as relational mindfulness and freedom from self, and explain the function of meditation in social change. This course is intended for health and mental health clinicians, researchers, educators, and others interested in the principles and practices of meditation.

Adoption Community of New England, Inc., founded in 1967, is a non-profit support and educational organization for individuals, families and professionals touched by adoption and/or foster care. ACONE does not endorse any one kind of adoption, only the right of every child to permanency. Individual presenters are chosen because of their expertise in a given area, but ACONE is not responsible for the content of their remarks. This seminar is educational in nature and should not take the place of appropriate professional services. Walk-in registration will be accepted as space allows.
Pre-registration is recommended and preferred.

Meet with others who are also in the waiting stage of their adoption process. Each session focuses on a specific issue and also allows time for open discussion. This is a professionally facilitated meeting providing a great opportunity to meet and share with others in various stages of all kinds of adoption journeys.
